Steven Johnson is an experienced commercial trial lawyer who has litigated a wide range of business disputes before various state and federal courts and arbitration panels. Before forming Kennedy Johnson LLC in May 2004, he was Of Counsel in the New York litigation department at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP and had previously been an associate for several years in the litigation department at Weil Gotshal and Manges.

Mr. Johnson has represented and counseled various real estate concerns, banks and investment companies in a broad range of real estate, environmental and commercial disputes, involving breaches of contract, land use, breaches of fiduciary duties, misappropriation of trade secrets and fraud.

Representative victories include successfully defeating an action to enjoin construction of the Time Warner Center on the grounds that further environmental reviews were required and that the developer had exceeded the City’s zoning restrictions, successfully terminating a multimillion dollar commercial lease on the grounds that Landlord failed to cooperate in providing financial information to tenant and dismissal of a class action suit on Rule 11 grounds. Clients represented by Mr. Johnson in litigation include Getty Petroleum, LaPraire Group, Financial Security Assurance, Allied Signal, Bank of America, Dai-ichi Life, Atofina, Esprit, Oaktree Capital Management and The Related Companies.

Mr. Johnson received his B.A. degree, cum laude, from the University of Washington in 1982 and received his J.D. degree, cum laude, from New York Law School in 1988. He is a member of the New York bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
