Our Experience
James Kennedy and Steven Johnson formed Kennedy Johnson LLC in May 2004 as a litigation boutique following many years of litigation success as a partner and counsel in the New York office of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP.
Over the past two decades, we have successfully resolved -- through litigation, arbitration, mediation and negotiation -- a broad spectrum of business disputes for a variety of clients, ranging from entrepreneurs and small partnerships to Fortune 200 corporations, including real estate developers, investment funds, software companies and makers of consumer goods.
While our experience is wide ranging, we have particular depth in resolving complex business and real estate disputes. We have litigated matters involving virtually every conceivable type of commercial contract, including partnership agreements, commercial real estate leases; purchase and sale agreements for goods or real property, distribution and supply agreements, franchise agreements, LLC operating agreements, intellectual property licensing agreements, technology development contracts, computer software agreements, restrictive covenants and non-competition agreements and construction agreements).
Our commercial real estate experience encompasses an array of disputes relating to commercial leases, real estate development agreements, land use regulations and other environmental laws.
We also have substantial experience in matters pertaining to shareholders’ rights, fiduciary duties of officers, directors, partners and majority shareholders, intellectual property (including, trade secrets, trademarks, copyright and patents), entertainment law, defamation, bankruptcy, lender liability, employment law and securities law. In addition to the skill and dedication of our attorneys, we employ the latest and most effective computer technology for increased effectiveness in all aspects of our practice.
We routinely employ electronic document production and retrieval systems in very large, document intensive cases both to reduce copying expenses and to streamline the document management process. We also utilize software to index and manage deposition and trial transcripts, thereby facilitating our access to and use of important testimony.
We are well experienced in the use of state-of-the-art courtroom technology, including in-court digital camera and computerized document display systems. Working with graphic artists and other consultants, we use computer technology in appropriate cases to prepare winning courtroom exhibits, ranging from theme boards to animations.
Technology also plays an important role in client service. We facilitate client access to working drafts, final court pleadings and key litigation documents through the use of secure, password-protected Extranet web sites that can be reached from any Internet computer. We also employ hand held technology to stay in touch with our clients as needed.
